Entry instructions
Entry: At the front of ALAC, you’ll find ACROD bays that lead to a central paved walkway. It is 50 m to the entry doors of ALAC, they are electric opening sliding doors. From here a carpeted indoor corridor leads you to the court area where the game will be held Please chat to any of our volunteers if you need assistance on the night and we can make the space more comfortable and welcoming for you.
After entry instructions
You can choose to sit wherever you like, there is no reserved seating. Seating: There is accessible seating as you enter the track area to your left near the bar. There will be extra space around the seats. And the ability to move seat for those who use a wheelchair or other mobility aid.
Hazards
Noise: Roller Derby is a noisy sport, there will be a PA system playing music, two MC’s for the games as well as a lot of whistles and wheels screeching on the floors. If you use noise-cancelling devices like headphones or earbuds, we advise bringing them along. ALAC is cold, the seats are metal or plastic, so bring a rug or warm clothing to wear at the event. We have bench seating, plastic chairs AND track-side floor seating. You can bring a bean bag, cushion or low chair to sit track side (the best seats in our opinion) Lighting: There will be no strobe lighting
Toilet location
Accessible toilets can be found off court 5. This is away from the main game area. Please don't hesitate to ask for directions. Or write a letter to the City of Albany, because having one toilet far far away is ridiculous
Accessible parking
Parking: There are 5 ACROD bays at the front of ALAC, with smooth and level concrete and pavers to the main doors. The TAXI bay is also at the front of the venue. There are two main car parks at ALAC with free parking that is well-lit at night. There are limited taxis. There are no Buses. There are Beam or Bird e-scooters in the area.
First Aid
First Aid: 2 St John's Ambulance Volunteers are onsite and can be used by members of the public during the event.
Quiet Space
We do not have a dedicated ‘quiet space’ but the hallway where you enter can be used at anytime for some quiet time, This has comfortable lounges and will be away from the loud game. You will not need a pass out, you can access this space any time you need.
