Event description

This classic Shakespearean tale has been brought to life by the young members of NCT Youth Drama. Against the backdrop of the picturesque Canning Civic Gardens Amphitheatre, this timeless classic of star-crossed lovers unfolds. All your favourite characters are there with the added bonus of a soundtrack written especially for this production by 18-year-old Hannah-Jade Keppler (who also plays Juliet against her real-life Romeo). The soundtrack has won its young creator many awards locally and nationally including the coveted Best Original Work from the Australian Festival of Performance Art. The whole production has won over 20 awards for its young cast including Youthfest acting awards for Hannah-Jade (Juliet) and Declan Scott (Romeo) and Highest Score for Drama Discipline from the Australian Festival of Performing Arts for Hannah-Jade. Eloise Keppler (Nurse/Prince), Tamara Wolf (Friar/Tybalt), Laurelle McClure (Capulet) and Iziah Wallace (Mercutio) are amongst the other award winners for acting.

Prior to the main show, the NCT Juniors will be performing excerpts from their end of year show, Peter Pan directed by their teachers Hannah-Jade Keppler and Declan Scott. Hannah-Jade will also showcase her original works. Other special guests include students from the Aimee-Rose Piano and Singing School. Aimee-Rose is an ex-NCT member who now operates her own piano and singing school and attends WAAPA for Classical Voice. You will be spoiled by her enchanting voice as she performs alongside her students.
