ROOTS & RHYTHM 3.0
Event description
moveMEANT for the commUNITY
Step into a space where culture, movement, and healing intertwine in my ROOTS & RHYTHM Afrofusion dance class. This year of the Snakeinvites us into deep transformation – shedding old layers and stepping into new ones. While we embrace personal growth, don’t forget to lean on the support of community and tap into the power of somatic release through dance. Dance has always been a way to reconnect to a collective culture that reminds us of who we are. In these times of immense change, it’s more important than ever to honor our bodies and recharge our spirits. Dance isn’t just for individual expression – it’s a ritual of coming together, sharing energy, and lifting each other up.
Do you ever have that doubt in your head when you're dancing? That moment of "What comes next? Does this look good?" If so, I’m here to give you the tools to expand your dance vocabulary, so you can feel confident in knowing exactly what move is coming next. This class is about building trust in your own movement, allowing you to flow freely without hesitation, and stepping into your dance with power and grace.
Growing up with dance circles (cyphers) and Afrobeat clubs in Melbourne, I remember a time when the dance floor wasn’t just a crowd facing the DJ. It was a circle, a shared space where people could feel seen, supported, and inspired. That’s what I want to bring back – a safe and inclusive community where we connect through movement, embodying the rhythms of our ancestors.
Give this time to yourself. Let the music move you, let the community uplift you, and let your spirit feel the freedom it deserves.
