Description

Six years of remembering.
Six years of reclaiming.
Six years of walking barefoot through the thresholds of womanhood… together.

What began as a seed is now a thriving forest: an ecosystem of women journeying through Self, sisterhood, and sacred service. Matured by time and deepened by devotion, Roots returns, more than retreat, and so, so much more than a festival:

Roots is a rite of passage. A collective of women, rewriting the story, healing those places where women's wisdom, power and intuition have often been silenced, to shape our lives, leadership, and collective mission.

🔥 Our 6th Annual Gathering Theme: Initiated In Power... 🔥
We bow to the thresholds that shape us, the ones we choose and the ones that choose us. We honour initiation as a lost part of our culture - a woman's birthright - not as a single moment but a lifelong unfolding.

We carry the fire of those who claimed their power before us, and we light the way for those still finding theirs.

We reclaim power from the places it has been distorted and placed in the wrong hands. We root ourselves in service beyond self, wield our power with responsibility, meet our blind spots and strengthen our trust in our own internal rightness. Together, we become the women through whom a different world can be born.

This year you'll find…
New workshops.
New voices.
A stronger circle of sisterhood.
As we gather and step through the fire of initiation, we place our stake in the ground of what we carry forward and what we leave behind.

What is Roots?

Roots is a 3-day, retreat-style women's festival and a space to reclaim your rhythm, expression, and embodied truth. Through a rich tapestry of workshops, movement, sound, ritual, and rest, you're invited to explore the language of your feminine spirit in its raw, unfiltered form. This is a space for expression, embodied truth, and village-based sisterhood, where nothing needs to be fixed, performed, or hidden.
We explore ancestral and embodied practices that tender the matrescence and matricentric experiences, providing an abundant web of offerings across 7 immersive workshop temples, plus wellness, art, performance, and creative spaces...

We grow. And we have fun!
Expect ritual, sweat, silence, song, and wild celebration.
Expect to meet parts of yourself you've forgotten or longed to reclaim.

Who is Roots for?

Roots is for the woman who:

  • Is ready to reclaim her wild, sacred truth - unfiltered and embodied - alongside fierce sisters, in a space where rage, grief, joy, and tenderness are all welcome.

  • Longs to heal the fractures between women - comparison, competition, disconnection - and return to a celebrated, villaged-based sisterhood rooted in reciprocity, reverence, and real connection.

  • Feels the call to gather on sacred land… to remember her body as Earth, to honour the rites of passage she’s crossed (or never received), and to reconnect with the rhythms of life, menstruation, and the seasons as gateways to feminine wisdom.

Our gathering is space for the woman becoming - The mother unraveling, The maiden growing, The crone awakening… The community rooting.

  • Why does a Roots ticket cost what it does?

Roots is more than just a festival... it's a 7-month community-led project powered by a circle of fierce, purpose-driven women who work tirelessly to bring this sacred space to life.

Your ticket price reflects the real-world cost of co-creating a safe, beautiful, and professionally run village for 600+ women on Dharug Country.

    Here's where your money goes:

    – Supporting the admin and operations of our Core Team, who hold the vision and logistics across many, many months
    – Hiring a highly skilled crew of production, design, and technical professionals
    – Securing essential infrastructure to transform an empty field into a thriving, safe, and sacred village
    – Paying our volunteer network and crew - women offering their time and energy to co-create this experience with integrity and care
    – Contributing to our Pay It Forward – Sisterhood Support Program, which offers subsidised tickets to those in financial need
    – Sponsoring our chosen charity QENDO, who support and advocate for those living with endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, and pelvic pain - causes that deeply align with our womb-centred mission
    - And so, so much more that happens behind the scenes of a large scale community funded event

We know the cost of a ticket may feel like a stretch for some - and we’ve done everything we can to keep prices as low as possible, while honouring the value of women’s labour and the true cost of quality production.

This is a labour of deep love. Your ticket doesn’t just ensure the event goes ahead, it contributes to a wider movement of sisterhood, sacred leadership, and collective healing.

Thank you for being part of the exchange.

  • Mums, Bubs & Children

Babes in Arms & Under 3’s

Roots is an 18+ event and not a children’s event. We warmly welcome women attending with babes in arms, breastfeeding, or children under 3. We understand early motherhood is a tender season, and many mamas may need to bring their little ones in order to attend.

Please note that music will play on the main stages until 12:30am Saturday night—baby earmuffs are recommended. Female nudity may be present and workshop content may not be suitable for children. Workshop content is tailored for adults only.

The site is pram-friendly, and we encourage you to prepare for hot weather. You’ll need to bring your own camping setup unless you opt for one of our accommodation or food add-ons to make things easier.

We’ll have The Cocoon onsite with shade, toys, and gentle entertainment for our little ones. Our wider sisterhood is also encouraged to support mamas throughout the weekend, so you can immerse in the experience and attend workshops as you wish.

    Children Over 3

Roots is a deeply immersive space, and many workshops, as well as occasional nudity, are not suitable for older children. While we gently discourage bringing children over 3, we trust each mother to make the decision that feels right for her family and to remain sovereign in that decision.

Please note this is an 18+ event, and we kindly ask that toddlers, children and teenagers do not attend.
