Semenawa - Suffering in Rope

A beginner to intermediate level shibari class on semenawa or ‘pain’ rope.

This class will cover:

  • Discussion around the concepts of semenawa, examining how we can use rope to create suffering both physically and mentally

  • Practical exercises to explore semenawa with a graduated approach, including how to build scenes and play

  • Negotiation, safety, and collaboration methods for rope tops and bottoms

  • Bottom specific information around pain processing, developing body awareness and intentional suffering

Sensual Rope - Erotic Connection and Movement

A beginner to intermediate shibari class on sensual and connective tying.

This class will cover:

  • Basic concepts of movement and connective tying, examining how we can use rope in a sensual and erotic manner to explore and connect

  • Practical exercises to explore sensual rope with a graduated approach from creative bedroom ties to building shibari scenes

  • Clothing and rope - tying in, on and around clothes to heighten experience

  • Negotiation, safety, and collaboration methods for rope tops and bottoms

Who are the classes for?

  • Anyone that wants to explore rope as a pathway to connect no matter the background of rope school or experience

  • Models and tops of any size/shape/ability (all taught ties have modifications)

  • Anyone interested in rope somatics and nerdy rope things

  • Tying partners - each class has practical elements so come with someone you are comfortable tying with

Pre-requisites/class requirements

  • Tying partner you are comfortable with

  • Tying knowledge - non-collapsing single column tie, inline/hojo cuffs

  • Communication knowledge - experience with negotiation, and the ability to clearly communicate boundaries throughout the class

  • Switching is welcome

  • To bring to class - 6-8 lengths of rope (ideally jute, but whatever you are comfortable with*), cutting implement, yoga mat, drink bottle, notebook

  • Rope in both classes will be used in intimate areas (crotch/mouth/etc) and may become fluid bonded with tying partner - please be aware of this when considering the type of rope you want to bring to class

  • To wear to class - comfortable semi-formal clothes for tying in (i.e. not sports wear). Think what you’d wear for scenes and play (unless you do wear sports wear for play, in which case go ahead!)
