Learn to make small animal sculptures with

Welcome & Inspiration (30 min)
Introduction to the workshop and materials
Discussion on Australian native animals and their unique features
Sketching and selecting an animal to sculpt
Basic Clay Techniques (1 hour)
Overview of clay types and properties
Hand-building techniques: pinch, coil, and slab
Creating an armature for support (if needed)
Sculpting the Basic Form (1.5 hours)
Shaping the platypus, wombat, or chosen animal
Proportion and balance techniques
Adding Texture & Fine Details (2 hours)
Sculpting fur, webbed feet, noses, and eyes
Creating realistic textures using tools and hands
Hollowing & Drying (1 hour)
Techniques for hollowing to prevent cracking
Preparing the piece for firing
Finishing & Surface Decoration
Review everyone animals and discuss class for questions and who might want to do a second workshop for underglazes etc in the future
