Event description

The Australian Border Force (ABF) is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and customs service who are operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs. ABF plays an important role at our airports and seaports as well as many other locations across Australia.

ABF’s mission is to protect Australia's border and enable legitimate travel and trade. They protect Australia's border and enable legitimate travel and trade, as well as safeguard our border from people who seek to commit immigration fraud or threaten Australia's safety and security. ABF uses special technology at airports and seaports to support their officers and operates at our maritime ports, airports, depots, mail centres and also have mobile detection capabilities to guard against terrorism and the movement of illegal or illicit products or substances.

Another large aspect of what ABF does is the Border Watch Program. The Border Watch program is an initiative that educates, informs and asks members of the community and industry to report suspicious border-related behaviour and activities.

ABF's vision is to be a global leader in border law enforcement and trusted partner that helps build a safe, secure and prosperous Australia. To simplify, ABF’s main aim is to facilitate the movement of people and goods across the border. They work closely with other agencies to share knowledge, expertise and intelligence in order to detect, deter and prosecute those who attempt to do us harm at the border. The work they do contributes to safeguarding Australia's national security.
