Rotary Club of Lindisfarne Talks - Una Hobday
Event description
Una Hobday joined Rotary International in 1992 as the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Hollywood, Western Australia. She is the first woman to become President of Rotary Club in Australia, New Zealand or the Philippines. She served as District Governor of Rotary International in 1999-2000.
Una moved to Tasmania in 2001 where she joined the Rotary Club of West Launceston, then the Rotary Club of Hobart in 2002. As the Chair of the Food Plant Solutions Rotary Action Group she has presented at local, national and international conventions, and more recently via Zoom.
The Food Plant Solutions Rotary Action Group creates educational materials that explain what nutritional food is, why our bodies need it and how to grow and use it. These are focussed on what are often neglected and underutilized plants, plants that are growing in and adapted to their environment, and are high in the most beneficial nutrients.
The materials are designed to empower people, but particularly women, so that they can make informed choices on what plants to grow and eat that will nutritiously feed themselves and their families. The project is cost effective, proven to work, sustainable and enables self-sufficiency.
