AK Tareen is a distinguished expert in international trade and investment, with 37 years of experience in commercial diplomacy and leadership across both the government and private sectors. He has effectively represented countries, government agencies, and businesses in Australia, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, fostering strategic partnerships and demonstrating a profound understanding of international trade complexities, investment dynamics, and geopolitical issues.

Notably, Mr. Tareen is recognized as Australia’s longest-served commercial representative in India, where he held senior leadership positions with both federal and state governments for nearly two decades.

As the Senior Trade Commissioner for the South Australian Government in India and South Asia, and previously as the head of Austrade in South India, he developed successful strategies, established and managed new offices, led cross-cultural teams, facilitated ministerial and business missions, and negotiated bilateral strategic agreements.

He maintains strong relationships with senior decision-makers worldwide and serves on the boards and committees of several industry and social organizations. 

A regular speaker at international business events, he is frequently featured in business and social media platforms.

An Australian citizen of Indian origin, Mr. Tareen holds a Distinction in Mechanical Engineering and has earned postgraduate certificates in Leadership, International Business, Management, Human Resources, and Strategic Planning from prestigious institutions, including Stanford University, the Kellogg School of Management, RMIT, and the Indian School of Business (ISB). His contributions have been recognized through several esteemed awards, including ‘Citizen of the Year,’ ‘TED Ambassador,’ the ‘Indo-Australian Award for Meritorious Services,’ the ‘Asia-Arab Award,’ and the ‘Seva Ratna Award’.
