Synopsis

Housing in Australia has never been less affordable. Melbourne is rated the seventh least affordable housing market in the world, with Sydney ranked second. Homelessness is rising, and mortgage and rental stress have reached potentially catastrophic levels. Meanwhile, state debt levels reach extraordinary new highs, and economic conditions mean money is in short supply. The Real Estate Institute of Victoria is the real estate sector's peak industry body, advocating to shape government policies that deliver a healthier property ecosystem for all Victorians. Jacob Caine, REIV President, will explore how we find solutions to these problems in a time of significant adversity.
