Rotorua Matariki Pride
Event description
Come and celebrate Matariki Pride with us! 3 days 4 fabulous events
Reel Queer Short Films | Thursday 12th June -5.30pm - 7.00pm
He wā ataahua tēnei – tonight is all about stories. Join us for an intimate evening of short films, celebrating voices from Aotearoa and beyond. After the screenings, stick around for a relaxed Q&A where we can connect with the filmmakers and each other. It’s about representation, reflection, and aroha – all on the big screen.
Matariki Pride Panel | Friday 13th June - 5.30 pm - 7.30 pm
For the first time, we’re hosting our Inaugural Matariki Pride Panel! This is a special opportunity to hear from local Rainbow leaders and change-makers. It’s a space for kotahitanga – unity – and kōrero that honours who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re heading. Don't miss this beautiful, heart-led gathering.
Rainbow Whānau Day | Saturday 14th June - 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Pack your picnic blankets and bring your whānau! This afternoon we’ll be taking over the Rotorua Lakefront for some chill vibes, kai, games and connection. All are welcome – bring the tamariki, aunties, uncles and cuzzies. It’s about joy, visibility, and whakawhanaungatanga.
Matariki Pride Quiz Night & Party - 7.00pm - late
Get your brains and outfits ready – it’s Rainbow Quiz Night! From 7pm to 9pm, we’ll test your queer trivia knowledge and throw in some fun surprises.
After that, it’s time to let loose with performances by The Gayles and our DJ to carry us into the rest of the night. Come as you are – fierce, fabulous, and ready to party.
