    Event description

Join us for a roundtable conversation with people with disability to have your say on General Foundational Supports.

This roundtable is open only to people with disability. If you are a family member, carer, NDIS provider or other service, you can join the Open Workshop or other events which can be found at this link: https://engage.dss.gov.au/foun...
*People with disability may bring a support person to help them participate in the session.

    What is this roundtable about?

Governments are working together to design and deliver additional supports for people with disability in the community. These are known as Foundational Supports. Foundational Supports are specific supports that would be outside the NDIS to help people with disability, and their families and carers.

General supports will include things like trusted information and guidance, peer supports and capacity building that help people and their families to engage in the community and to advocate for – and make decisions about – matters that affect them.

You can learn more about General Supports at General Supports | engage.dss.gov.au.

Feedback received through these engagement activities will inform thinking on the design of general supports.

People with disability who attend the Roundtable conversations will be provided a $75 voucher for attendance. This recognises that these conversations are in-depth and will be about discussing people’s lived experiences and ideas.

What we want to know from you

You will be asked for your ideas about what you and your community needs to better support you in:

    • accessing trustworthy information, including information about services
    • decision-making and self-advocacy
    • connecting with peers and the community

You’ll also be asked about how General Supports can help:

    • families and carers to be empowered and supported in their role as carers
    • community organisations and public services to be more inclusive to the needs of people with disability.

The Department of Social Services is leading the consultations. For more information about Foundational Supports, please contact foundational.supports@dss.gov.au.
