Event description
Roused At! presents:
LITURGY [US] (solo) live @ Warehouse 25
w/ guests BLIND GIRLS + Gorgina

Liturgy is the project of Haela Ravenna Hunt-Hendrix, whose yearning, energetic “transcendental black metal” exists in the space between metal, experimental, classical music and sacred ritual. The band is simultaneously a platform for fine art and theology. Celebrated for their fusion of sincere emotion, compositional complexity, stylistic daring and intense live energy, the band is simultaneously a medium and platform for drama and theology.
Liturgy was founded as a solo project by Hunt-Hendrix in 2005 and has since evolved into a quartet. In this concert, Haela will present a brand new solo set, blending acoustic and electric worlds.

Blind Girls’ tempestuous performances have earned them a dedicated following in their home country, further expanded by tours in Japan, Canada and the United States. While performing the unrelenting material of The Weight of Everything over two years around the world, Blind Girls quietly administered higher doses of melody in new work, giving more time and care to doleful passages of solitary guitar strumming that appeared in past songs.
Blind Girls have a distinct way of making entire works sound like a single composition, both live and on record, championing the punk tradition of playing with as few breaks as possible, if any.

Gorgina: one of Meanjin's most well-loved improvisational duos, comprised of Kim Day (Lesbian Merzbow) + Yvette Ofa Agapow. Harsh noise by & for the dolls by way of live-coding, blood curdling screams, maniacal feedback loops, and the power of friendship.
Since 2023 they've shared stages with the likes of Xiu Xiu, Deli Girls, Mun Sing, Elvin Brandhi, and have toured the United States with Lucas 'Granpa' Abela (fka Justice Yeldham) - not to mention numerous DIY and local gigs, cementing them as a mainstay of the current Meanjin underground.
