Roving the Riverbeds: Ten Valleys on the Path to Awakening
Description
Roving the Riverbeds
Ten Valleys on the Path to Awakening
With Pir Zia Inayat Khan
Saturday, November 7, 2026, via Zoom
11:00 am – 4:00 pm EST (New York)
You are warmly invited to spend a day with Pir Zia, continuing the journey through the stations of the path. All are welcome, whether or not you've joined Pir Zia on this journey before.
Wadis are undulating valleys and ravines carved into a landscape by the action of floodwater following rain. In the wadis of the pilgrim's journey, the flow of luminous waves emanating from inner realms lays bare a sequence of paths toward the object of the quest: illumination.
The wadis are named the practice of beauty (ihsan), knowledge ('ilm), wisdom (hikma), insight (basira), intuition (firasa), exaltation (ta'zim), inspiration (ilham), serenity (sakina), tranquility (tuma'nina), and aspiration (himma).
In this one-day retreat, through reflection, meditation, and the invocation of Divine Names, we will rove the riverbeds where the living Earth and the ever-transforming self coincide in a geography of awakening.
This is an open program for people at every stage on the spiritual path of Sufism. Translation will be offered.
