RSSA April Meeting 2025 Verco Medal Presentation
Event description
The Royal Society of South Australia is pleased to invite you to our April Meeting and Scientific Presentation, although this month is a little different.
In honour of over 60 years of research, contributing to the study of the evolution and ecology of Australian fauna, the Royal Society of South Australia is proud to be presenting the Verco Medal to Dr Chris Watts.
Please join us as we celebrate the life-time achievements of Dr Chris Watts and present him with the Royal Society of South Australia's highest award, following his nomination by other scientists and endorsement by colleagues. In receipt of this medal, Dr Watts will be joining a list of eminent scientists including Sir Douglas Mawson and Dr Reg Sprigg.
The award ceremony will include a presentation on his work with mammals by former mammal researcher for the South Australian Museum Dr Cath Kemper.
Professor Steven Cooper has been invited to give the guest scientific presentation for the evening and will present a talk titled 'Chris Watts’ legacy: subterranean beetle mania'.
The event will begin at 6:00 pm with nibbles, refreshments and opportunities for pre-meeting discussions and networking. A small donation to the RSSA is greatly appreciated to partake in this and support the continued provision of these pre-meeting treats.
This event will be held in-person in the Royal Society rooms, but we will simultaneously live-stream the meeting via Zoom for those not able to attend on the night.
To attend either in person, or online, you must register here. The zoom link will be sent to you on registration. Please feel free to share this event with your institution or networks.
If in-person tickets are sold out, please be aware that we are unable to admit more people than our room capacity. If online tickets are sold out, please contact admin@rssa.org.au and we can supply the zoom link to you.
