Join us for a workshop with Field Room Artist in Residence Ellen Ferrier, where she’ll be guiding participants through the process of circular material design.

In this artist-led hands-on workshop, participants will learn about the core components of biomaterial-making, working directly with construction waste from around Field Rooms to cast small biomaterial samples.

The workshop covers basic recipes and ratios for adjusting flexibility and brittleness, and introduces a range of fabrication methods.

Drawing on locally sourced waste streams, this session validates waste as a viable alternative to virgin materials — a core part of Ellen Ferrier’s artistic practice. 

Ellen Ferrier is an artist who strives to wok solely with regenerative and reclaimed matter. Drawing on a diverse range of processes from the pre-industrial to the bio-technological, she weaves together ancient and contemporary knowledge systems through playful material experimentation. Working across sculpture and installation, Ferrier’s work speculates on futures grounded in an ethics of ecological care, embodied curiosity and multi-species kinship.

No prior experience necessary; all materials provided.
