Event description

𝑹𝒖𝒃𝒚 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 and her band returns to the stage to celebrate the launch of her new single Bad Ideas, the second release from her forthcoming album Souvenir. Blending searing, emotive vocals with a psychedelia-steeped sonic palette, Ruby crafts a tempestuous and hauntingly beautiful sound that is uniquely her own.

Bad Ideas is a darkly euphoric exploration of repression and release. At its core, the song wrestles with Catholic guilt, shame, and the urge to bury one’s worst impulses deep inside. With driving rhythms and an almost ecstatic energy, it captures the tension of holding everything back until it threatens to combust.

Although it grapples with heavy subject matter, the track is intentionally upbeat, urgent, and danceable. The aim was to channel that tension into something liberating, inviting listeners to feel the catharsis of shaking off repression and guilt through movement and rhythm. The result is a track that feels like both a confession and an exorcism, restless, unflinching, and ultimately freeing.

Opening the night is 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝑱𝒐𝒚𝒄𝒆 , a wild and unconventional songwriter known for her fervent lyrics and distorted, at times eerie tones. Drawing on influences as diverse as Patti Smith, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and 70’s horror flicks, she crafts a compelling sound that veers between raucous rock ’n’ roll freak outs and more alluring, melodic turns.
