RUSU & Just Food Collective Present: (Learn how to) Pickle Party!
Description
RUSU Presents:
A Just Food Collective PICKLE PARTY
Get ready to get your pickle on in Week 7 or 8 of semester! (choose which date suits your schedule best)
Have you ever wanted to get started on making your very own pickles? Or thought: there must be a better way to preserve veggies to keep them from going sad limp in the veggie crisper when I inevitably forget about them?
We've got you covered! Join us for a fun, hands-on cooking workshop where you’ll learn how to make your very own delicious, simple, veggie pickles, using just basic pantry ingredients like sugar, vinegar and spices! A fantastic way to learn preserve in-season vegetables while they're cheap, so you always have some veggies on hand to add to your meals even if you can't make it to the grocery store.
JFC have been teaching people to pickle for years- and it's so easy its basically just a party when we do it all in a group.
We'll guide you through the pickling process step-by-step, and you’ll get to take home your own jar of customised pickles at the end! We'll be spoiling you with farm-fresh, locally grown vegetables so you can get to know what is in season in Melbourne, and reap the nutritional benefits of consuming low-chemical and regeneratively grown vegetables harvested fresh.
We'll not only provide you with a pickling workshop, but also with a $5 Realfoods Canteen Voucher to come back and have a meal on us ( jar of pickles + eternal pickling knowledge + free lunch = $5?! Our girl math calculates that you're actually making money off attending this workshop )
Duration:
1-1.5hr guided, hands on workshop (drop in and out of the session as it makes sense for you if you have class before or after)
