Snowskin Mooncake Making Workshop with Anther

Join us to celebrate the Lunar Calendar Mid Autumn (Mooncake) Festival, by learning to make Snowskin Mooncakes with Anther Oria Low.

Have you ever been to the Asian grocer and seen these beautifully ornate looking cakes around certain times of the year and wondered what they were?

Mooncakes are a traditional sweet Chinese pastry symbolizing harmony and the full moon, made and appreciated during the Mid-Autumn Festival. They are popular in Chinese and Asian cultures, and there are many different styles. The Snowskin variety is a no-bake version using a glutinous rice shell with various fillings, and is lighter than the more labour intensive traditional style yellow pastry, egg yolk and lotus seed paste filled cakes.

Making and sharing mooncakes is a traditional practice of the festival so come along and join in the fun and learn how to make and color your own delicious snowskin mooncakes in this beginner friendly, hands on workshop. Snowskin Mooncakes are vegetarian friendly, gluten-free, and halal.

Attendance of the workshop includes taking home your own mooncakes, PLUS a $5 Realfoods Canteen Voucher to come back and have a meal on us later on.

Duration:

1hr 30mins guided, hands on workshop (drop in and out of the session as it makes sense for you if you have class before or after but still want to come!)

• Ingredients and method to make your own mooncakes

• Making the filling and delicate pastry skin

• Pressing the cakes into a variety of molds

• History of the mid-autumn festival

If this workshop is sold out, we encourage you to join the waitlist! As a student event, we often get late dropouts from busy students and may be able to offer additional places :)

Refund Policy:

Student life is crazy! We get it- and have automatic refunds available if you can no longer make it. Please enact this pre-event in order to be eligible for the refund, so we can offer your ticket to another student. No refunds available within 24 hrs of event, unless in extenuating circumstances.
