Join the Rural Women's Network (RWN) tour, on the 2025 Skills Roadshow!
For the Rural Women's Network Skills Roadshow, the RWN is partnering with St John Ambulance to deliver free First Aid and Mental Health & Crisis Support qualifications for women across rural and regional NSW.
The First Aid and Mental Health workshop cover important topics including safely responding to emergencies, CPR, and supporting people in mental health crisis. The training is free and welcomes all levels of knowledge among women living in rural areas! The Roadshow includes a complimentary lunch and refreshments, and all attendees will receive a formal qualification.
Each training is a full day workshop, from 9am to 5pm. You are welcome to register for First Aid, Mental Health Crisis, or both days of training. There is a mandatory pre-learning before the courses, which will be emailed upon registration. The pre-learning will be a maximum of four hours.
The First Aid training (HLTAID011) includes:
- Roles and responsibilities of the first aider
- The DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations
- Managing unconscious casualties
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Using a defibrillator (AED)
- Diabetes and seizures
- Allergic reactions and Anaphylaxis
- Wound, burns and bleeding management
- Fractures and dislocations
- Hypothermia and hyperthermia
- Head, neck, and spinal injuries
- And responding to many other situations
The Mental Health and Crisis Support (CHCCCS019) training includes:
- What is mental health?
- What is a mental health crisis?
- Duty of care
- Principles of crisis intervention
- Recognising and responding to signs of a person who might be at risk
- Providing support to people at risk
- Where to go for assistance?
- Principles of self-care
You will become formally qualified in the trainings you undertake and receive a nationally recognised qualification in First Aid training (HLTAID01) and/or Mental Health & Crisis Support (CHCCCS019).
