S T R A N G E T A S T E S - Wangolina Winery with Nick Gulin

Our last Strange Tastes for 2024 will be held on December 18th and will be a carefully selected array of beautifully crafted wines from across the pond in South Australia. Hailing from the Mount Benson wine region (about 300kms from Adelaide) the Wangolina vineyard has been pumping out incredible vino since their first vintage once becoming established in 1999. Grower, maker and sole owner since 2013, Anita Goode has been part of the fabric since inception, working in every aspect of the family business before taking the reigns.
Set in whats known as the Limestone Coast wine zone, Wangolina was and still is also home to a cattle station pioneered by Anitas family who tended to the land since 1923. The sandy loam over limestone soils now grows beautiful vines too. The terroir provides the ideal soil condition for vine growth, plentiful supplies of fresh subterranean water (which filters through the limestone) and the temperate type of climate, which is moderated by the influence of the Great Southern Ocean. All of these factors combined provide excellent conditions for the vineyard to thrive and produce high quality wines. Their property is located approximately 12kms as the crow flies from the sea at Cape Jaffa.
On the night we will have Nick Gulin in the house to pour out some stunning offerings from the cellar and a few different vintages for us to sample.
They have been creating some excellent drops with lots of exciting varietals that may or may not be new to you! Below are some of the wines we will be tasting:
Fiano
Gruner Veltliner
Dolectto
Montepulciano &
Lagrein
We will also be pouring their good stuff by the glass should fancy a splash with dinner after!
Come get amongst the Silly Season cheer before the real madness kicks in.
