S3 Project Brief and Networking

RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast, in collaboration with the Sunshine Coast Regional Jobs Committee, is excited to launch a new project to future-proof our regional workforce.

Titled the Smart Specialisation Strategy - or S3 for short - the initiative will draw on international best practice to devise a place-based growth policy framework that aims to better direct investment in R&D and innovation related activities to stimulate competitiveness, productivity and economic growth through entrepreneurial activities. The goal is to unlock local strengths, attract new industries and prepare a future-ready workforce for the vibrant region.

This builds on the work of the RDAMBSC and SCRJC to understand the region’s economic capabilities, engineering a communique with Australian defence industry leaders to create new opportunities for local businesses and showcasing career opportunities in future industries.

The S3 partnership can add to that proactive planning by shining a light on the competitive advantages that exist in the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Moreton Bay regions.

The Moreton Bay-Sunshine Coast-Noosa corridor is already transforming into a hub for smart manufacturing, cyber industries and ASEAN-linked trade. But challenges remain, including health workforce shortages, engaging mid-career workers, supporting and creating opportunities for Veterans and marginalised communities.
