Sacred Pulse: Kevin James Heartsongs & Dancing Dhevas Ecstatic Dance
Event description
Sacred Pulse: an incredible voice and movement experience all in one liberating, drug and alcohol-free event.
Joining together in an evening of connection and community spirit, Sacred Pulse opens with a Chanting Circle of Heartsongs and Mantras with Australia’s own world travelling chant leader, Kevin James Carroll. Following the circle, Theva of Dancing Dhevas weaves an embodiment journey of ecstatic dance to awaken the body’s natural genius. Bringing two magical experiences together; we seek freedom on every level, mind, body and spirit.
Guided in every moment by the artistry of Kevin James and Theva Indrasenan, we will flow seamlessly from voice to dance, integrating each part into one full experience.
About the chanting circle..
Kevin James and his partner Susana have been travelling the globe with the intention of connection from heart to heart and remember who we are beyond the illusions of ego together through Mantra, music, and Heartsongs.
Weaving ancient Mantras with his own HeartSongs, Kevin’s music is a world fusion of devotional chanting, drawing upon his experience of chanting around the world, and his influences from traditional Indian Kirtan, Rainbow Bhajans, Celtic and Sufi chants mixed with western folk sounds.
Their Chanting Circles are a co-creative and empowering experience that can have you singing your heart out, dancing in bliss and diving deep into the profound silence that follows.
Sit back and take in the vibes or sing the soft, sweet simple melodies and let your voice fly with ascending choruses, followed by a flute meditation that takes you on a sound journey to the Himalayas
Kevin James’ voice is touching, warm and loving at each moment – authentic and straight from the heart. He sings for you, he sings to your soul, and you will feel an immediate warm embrace which lets you feel cosy, protected and within a realm where sorrows have no weight anymore. – Sat Nam Europe
About ecstatic dance...
A freeform conscious dance where there is no right or wrong, no set moves and no talking. Experience a safe space to release your inner dancer, to move like no one is watching, to dance the dance only you can dance.
Riding the waves of music, we dance to free ourselves of tension and habits, finding new ways to move and express. The process is to uncover your own individual, original dance, it is so unique to you and how you move that it cannot be reproduced by anyone else. This liberating freedom from constraints and judgements explodes your potential to move until it unleashes the dancer within.
Music will be played to facilitate a deep experience, from dance club music to classical, folk to experimental. In this way the music becomes our greatest teacher. We dance for joy, to move pain, anger and sadness, to connect and to disconnect. To feel whole again. Words can not do justice to a language written in your body, hit the dance floor to find out more!
Theva brought Ecstatic Dance to WA in 2010 and graduated as an Open Floor Movement teacher in 2018 which deepened his understanding of this glorious practice and taken his students down the path of embodiment. His love of music and movement has sprouted a vibrant dance community in Fremantle, where he endeavours to share, inspire and bring joy.
