Event description
Sacred Rattle Crafting Ceremony
Join us for an immersive and hands-on experience at the Sacred Rattle Crafting Ceremony in Coorabell, Byron Shire, NSW, Australia, across two days Sunday March 15 and Sunday March 16, 9.30am-4.30pm AEDST. (Note: this is not a residential, occurring on two single days across two weekends, and full address will be provided on registration).
Everyone is welcome, this is a gender inclusive workshop, a shared space of masculine and feminine. Note however this is an intimate event with a maximum of 8 participants.
For the duration of the two day workshop you will be held in safe and sacred space, fully guided and supported in the process to intentionally craft two shamanic rattles. No prior experience is necessary.
What to expect:
You will make and decorate two rattles, a two sided palm rattle, and another of your choice (3-4 sided rattle) with a handle. We will craft the rattles with Kangaroo or Goat hide and a choice of crystals. We honour the spirit of the animal and the crystals with gratitude and reverence to live through the rattles. Materials are all sourced ethically.
Through the process of crafting each rattle with intention you will cultivate a relationship with your rattles, and also deep your understanding of yourself as you witness your creative process in the moment.
Across the weekend we will:
- Sit in circle to set intentions, share and bare witness to one another
- Conduct a cacao ceremony
- Learn about the medicine of rattles, the animal, and crystals
- Experience a Shamanic drum journey to meet the animal of the hide
- Meditate to connect with the crystals
- Craft and decorate your rattles
- Activate your rattles
What's included:
- All materials for creating 2 rattles (excluding handle for one rattle)
- Nourishing vegetarian morning tea each day
Note: Workshop payment via Bank Transfer is also available. Please email zaana@camino.au
Why craft rattles?
The medicine rattle is a sacred powerful tool as well as musical instrument. It is used in practices for healing, journeying, and calling to spirit in ceremony. They are often used to complement the beat of a drum. The sound and vibration of the rattle can help to shift energy, create sacred space, and connect us with the spirit world. The rhythmic and repetitive pattern of a rattle can alter brainwave activity and help induce a meditative state and promote relaxation, allowing us to access deeper levels of consciousness, supporting us to connect more easily with our inner wisdom, and support energy flow by shifting any stagnant energy in the body that may be inhibiting personal growth and healing.
What to bring?
Let’s get practical:
- Lunch each day
- A water bottle
- A wooden stick found or foraged to be the handle for one rattle
- Any sacred items you would like to place on the altar - eg crystals, photo, feathers, medicine tool, jewellery etc.
- Any comforts to be comfortable in circle across the weekend eg a shawl/blanket, extra cushions
