Event description

Join Earthstar and Nicki on Saturday 8th February at the Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve  between 1pm and 5pm to celebrate the turning of the Wheel.

We will be celebrating the Sabbat of Lammas - a cross quarter point on the Celtic Wheel of life - equidistant between Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox.

Explore the themes of the first of three harvest festivals as the Earth begins her descent into Winter.

This is a reimagining of our Sacred Rhythms Singing and Drumming Circles from last year. Both Nicki and I realised that we wanted of offer a longer session, incorporating more of what we love to do! This includes singing and drumming (of course!) but also ritual work, spell crafting, seasonal herbs and practices to nourish your body, nourishing food and herbal tea.

At the centre of our work is connection, accesibility and cyclical wisdom. Honouring the seasons, showing up with integrity and vulnerability, and creating a safe and welcoming space for other do do the same.

The Sacred Rhythms Circles will now be held on a Saturday afternoon from 1pm to 5pm, making them more accessible to those travelling from further afield. During these warmer months we will gather outside around an Earth Altar in the forest - our gift to the land as we show up in reciprocity and gratitude to its spirits and guardians. You are encouraged to bring along something to add - natural materials only please.

During the colder months we will once again return to singing and drumming around the fire.

These are truly seasonal gatherings, working with the land and the Great Mother in Celebration of the turning of the Wheel!

Here's what you can expect:

🌾You will be smudged on arrival, and welcomed into the hall at the Mount Egerton Rec Reserve, where we will gather before moving to the forest as a group.

🌾We will begin with an acknowledgement to Country, followed by a Grounding Meditation before sharing our Cosmic Weather Report exploring the themes of this time of year - as well as what is happening both astrologically and in the lunar calendar.

🌾Crafting of our Earth Altar

🌾Singing & Drumming Circle. This will begin with sharing drumming patterns and beats (perfect for those who have recently birthed drums and are learning to play) before drumming up some energy and raising our vibration before moving into song sharing. We will share songs in call and response style - giving everyone the chance to learn the lyrics before we sing together as a group. If anyone has a song they would like to offer into the space, they are most welcome!

🌾This will be followed by our seasonal ritual, giving thanks for the harvest. It will also give you an opportunity to really feel into the gifts you have received over the second half of 2024, your personal harvest and what you are now carrying in your Medicine Basket.

🌾Following our ritual, Nicki will speak about seasonal herbs, foods and practices, ways to both honour and nourish your body as the season shift. Sharing ways in which the seasons can be incorporated into your own personal practice at home.

🌾We will then head into the hall to enjoy herbal teas crafted from Nicki's own organically grown herbs as well as nourishing first harvest foods and sweet treats. Celebrating the abundance of the season with feasting and community!

🌾Please ensure you bring along your own keep-cup for herbal tea or chai, and add a note when checking out if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.

For those that are new to frame drumming (we play the Medicine Drum with a beater - but all drums, percussion and other instruments are welcome) we will share some teaching around drumming patterns and beats before drumming up some energy and raising our vibration before moving into song sharing.

Bring along your voice, your drum if you have one (other musical instruments are most welcome, or stamp your feet and clap your hands, drum your heartbeat on your chest - all forms of joyous self expression are welcome!). We will provide a basket of small percussion instruments to share, such as rattles and clap sticks... don't let not owning a drum be a reason to miss out!

Bookings are essential - this is an all-gendered event and is reasonably accessible. Please be aware there may be uneven ground, wear sturdy footwear and let us know if you have any accessibility requirements.

We are so looking forward to singing and drumming with you! Cultivating joy and raising our collective vibration as we celebrate the turning of the Wheel.

See you in the forest!

Love, Earthstar & Nicki xx
