Event description

About the Class:
Sacred Sourdough is all about sourdough bread making and cooking as a sacred experience of daily life. Come learn how to make sourdough loaves and experience bread making as a sacred art form. In class you will receive the gift of a developed sourdough starter that Ashley has replicated for you from her own. You will learn the basics of starter management and how to incorporate the process into your daily life and work routine. In this hands on class you will learn all the steps to be successful at bread baking. You will have fun mixing your own dough, feeding your own starter, and tasting a loaf of sourdough fresh from the oven. You will leave the class feeling prepared with a detailed recipe booklet that includes process images and resources that will support and guide you to continue on your sourdough journey.

**Please let us know if you have any food allergies prior to the class so we can make accommodations, where possible. (Email kitchenmanager@mass-ave.org)

About the Instructor:

My name is Ashley Smith and I am a mamma, artist, health enthusiast, homesteader, mentor, and a self taught cook who loves to share what I have learned and practice with others. I believe cooking is a sacred process of daily life that is both practical and magical. I also believe that practices involving food are a doorway towards our individual and collective healing. Gathering and cooking together is a way to experience joy, connection, and gain confidence and skills. Working contemplatively in the garden, kitchen, and at the dinner table with food is a way to deepen our relationship with the food we eat, ourselves, others, and the land we live on.
