About this event

Safe and Equal are hosting the annual Disability Inclusion Forum, to support practitioners to enhance their practice when working with victim survivors with disability. The forum will provide a platform for practitioners to learn from key professionals in the field, who will share their knowledge and practice insights on the webinar topic. In alignment with Safe and Equal’s Code of Practice, the forum aims to increase practitioner’s capacity to promote a safe, inclusive, and equitable service system response to victim survivors with disability.

The forum will be divided into two (2 hour) webinars:

  1.  Barriers to service access for victim survivors with disability
  2.  Supporting victim survivors with psychosocial disability

Each webinar will include presentations from experts whose work focusses on the intersection of disability and family violence, followed by a Q&A session.  Attendees can submit questions for the Q&A via the online registration form, or by using the Q&A function on Zoom during the webinar.

Who can attend?

This forum is aimed at practitioners in the family violence, sexual assault, disability, and other related fields (e.g., AOD, Mental Health, Allied Health) who work with victim survivors with disability (both in direct and non-direct practice).


This forum will be held online via Zoom in a Webinar format. Zoom link will be provided via email prior to the event. Questions for the Q&A session can be submitted via the online registration form, or by using the "Q&A" function on Zoom during the webinar. These webinars will be recorded.


AUSLAN interpreters are available for this event. If you require an AUSLAN interpreter, please contact the organiser (contact information listed below) to request this. To ensure we have time to arrange AUSLAN interpreters, please contact the organiser by November 1st.

Zoom Automatic Captions are also available and can be accessed by clicking the “CC” button at the bottom of your screen during the webinar.

Access Key

This event is made up of two sessions (2-hours each), to be held online via Zoom in a webinar format. Zoom webinars look different to a regular Zoom call, because only the presenters and facilitator can use their cameras and microphones, and there is no "chat" function. You will not be able to turn on your camera or use your microphone during the sessions. These webinars will be recorded, but your face and name will not be visible.

You can submit your questions for the Q&A session either by using the "Q&A" function on Zoom, or when you register for the event using the online registration form.

The Zoom link will be sent to the email address you use on this form. You will also receive a link to an evaluation survey after you attend the webinars.

There will be no scheduled breaks during the webinars, so you are encouraged to take breaks as you need them. If you need to exit the webinar, you can return if/when you are ready.

Content warning

These webinars will focus on supporting people with disability who are victim survivors of family violence. Some presentations will include direct quotes from victim survivors, and/or case examples, including references to violence and abuse experienced by people with disability. You are encouraged to take breaks and/or exit the webinar if needed.

The organiser’s contact number will be provided on the day, so you can contact them if you have any questions or concerns.


There will be an evaluation survey forwarded to you after the webinars. This will be sent out to the email address that you used to register for the event. We ask that you please complete this survey so we can understand what worked well, what we could have done better, and what other subjects you are interested in learning more about.
