SAFE: Building inclusive outdoor spaces for CALD Women
Event description
The SAFE (‘Social, Accessible, Fun, and Equitable’) outdoor project, led by Dr Ancy Gamage at RMIT University, examined the outdoor experiences of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) women in Victoria, and importantly how engaging in outdoor activities positively impacted their lives, health and wellbeing.
Funded by the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation (Change our Game portfolio) and undertaken in collaboration with Out Doors Inc., the project identified a range of personal and cultural factors that influenced the engagement of CALD women with outdoor activities, and proposed numerous recommendations to make outdoor spaces more accessible and inclusive for CALD women.
In this interactive Webinar, we will hear from Dr Ancy Gamage and CEO of Out Doors Inc. Francesca Manglaviti, as they share the findings of the SAFE Outdoor Project, and their expertise and insights into what we can learn from the study in enhancing health, wellbeing and social connection for CALD women through being in the outdoors. The Webinar will include an opportunity to find out more specific questions and thoughts though a Q&A in the second half of the Webinar.
The event will take place online Monday 20 October 11:00AM-12:00pm.
