Description

SAFE SEAS SATURDAY - GISBORNE as part of FAMILY FISHING DAY

Nau mai, haere mai.

Safe Seas Saturday is a short, hands-on event offered by the Tongan Boat Safety Community with local Coastguard Volunteers and friends to build confidence, safety skills, and connection on the water.

Visit each station, learn a new skill, and get your 'passport' stamped to show your progress.

You'll go into the draw to win a trip out on the water with Coastguard Gisborne or a Hutchwilco 170N Manual Inflatable Lifejacket. Plenty of spot prizes on the day, too.

Big thanks to Pacific Islands Community Trust for having us at their Family Fishing Day.

This short event is for you if:

  • You’re often on the boat yet the skipper, your partner, or whānau member is usually at the helm

  • You want to know what to do if things go wrong

  • You’d like to feel calmer, safer, and more capable on the water

  • You want to learn in a fun, supportive, interactive environment

You’ll gain:

✔ Essential boat-handling & safety know-how
✔ Practical guidance for emergency situations
✔ Connection with your local Coastguard Unit people
✔ Space to share stories, laughter, and learning

💛 Cost: free

Come as you are. Learn what matters. Leave feeling capable.
