Event description

Connect Event: Safer Technologies for Schools – opportunities and implications for EdTech in New Zealand and Australia

As digital technology is increasingly adopted by the education sector, privacy and security for online services used by schools is more important than ever.

This session will provide participants with an understanding of the Safer Technologies for Schools (ST4S) initiative: a standardised approach to evaluating digital products and services used by schools across Australia and New Zealand, against a nationally consistent security and privacy control framework. The session will cover the assessment framework, process, results, and opportunities and implications for software suppliers.

Last year the New Zealand Ministry of Education (MoE) joined the initiative and ST4S assessment reports will soon be available to New Zealand schools and kura. These assessments will help inform technology selection and ongoing risk management.

Join Anthony Yaremenko, co-developer and manager of the ST4S program, to learn more about how digital products and services are assessed and evaluated, and the opportunities and implications for software suppliers. Anthony will be joined by MoE’s Martin Rothbaum who will share what ST4S means for New Zealand. There will also be an opportunity to hear from those in our EdTech community who have undertaken the ST4S assessment and have your questions answered.
