Event description

John & Bree Velluti, current owners of 50 year old Frank’s Fruit Market in Haberfield, in collaboration with Tappo & Co & Be Inpired: Food - Wine - Travel invite you to join us for our 'Sagra di Pomodori' as we share and learn in the experience the tradition of Passata making - the tomato sauce making day that Italian families come together for every year.  'Sagra' is an Italian word for a celebration around particular seasonal ingredients. Each month, our Sagra event provides our customers with inspiration and new ideas for cooking and entertaining at home. This month we are celebrating the fabulousness of the tomato / pomodoro (Frank's is famous for the heirloom varieties we source!) with this very special community event!

Meet Stefano & Caroline of Tappo & Co in Haberfield, who are passionate wine enthusiasts and have recently taken the reins of the small Bottle Shop down the road from Frank's at 117 Ramsay Street - they are now caretakers of Haberfield's oldest liquor licence (since 1956)! Stefano will be profiling and offering wine tastings of premium wines that he has selected especially for our 'Sagra di Pomodori' and you will have the opportunity to buy these wines to enjoy and take home with you after the event.

Roberta Muir Be Inspired: Food – Wine - Travel will bring her vast knowledge of gastronomy and join us in a Q&A around how tomatoes are grown and cooked in Australia and their significance in Italian food culture and cooking. Roberta is a well-known food writer having co-written and published cookbooks with many of Sydney’s best Italian chefs and led Australia’s largest recreational cooking school, Sydney Seafood School at Sydney Fish Market for 23 years. Hear about Roberta's upcoming 2025 Northern Italy & Switzerland Food & Wine tours.
