~~~~~
A tribute to ‘A Love Supreme’ by John Coltrane on the 60th year Anniversary of the classic jazz albums' release.
A Love Supreme was released in 1965 and is recognised as John Coltrane's spiritual jazz masterpiece.
The 4-part suite is a collection of deep chant-like grooves that underpin majestic solos drawn from melodic exhortations. The album, recorded by the John Coltrane Quartet, audibly changed the sonic landscape of modern music. It became an undeniable influence on musicians from the worlds of jazz, pop, and classical music, and continues to be so.
This new work will echo the spirit of the original recording, but within the context of a modern Tasmanian demographic.
Featuring Spike Mason: saxophones + Konrad Park: drums + Sasha Gavlek: double bass + Louise Denson: piano + Nick Parish: guitar + Stevie McEntee: trombone + Orlaith Badger: trumpet.
