Join us at Ministry of Brewing with Guest Teaching Artist Shannon Ward and the crew! Ever wanted to learn Salsa? Grab your friends or meet someone new at this pop up class!
This class will definitely break a sweat mixed with introduction-intermediate level salsa techniques.
What to wear: We recommend wearing tennis shoes for this class. Salsa heels are permitted if you have them.
What to expect:
- Accessible yet challenging exercises
- High energy in the space
- Focus on basic salsa steps
- Some partner and group work
Beer and Ballet is known for its community outreach and positive spirit. There is always an “After Class Hangout” where participants are invited to stay at the brewery to meet new people, talk about class, chat about the brews they are enjoying, and experience a new community.
Please note: Tickets before the date of the event are $15. Tickets purchased day of the event are $18. We highly suggest grabbing your spot early. There are no refunds 48 hours before the event.
More about Shannon Ward
Shannon Ward is a Maryland-based salsa dancer and educator. She has been a movement artist most of
her life – initially through figure skating and then eventually through dance. She has trained extensively
in various styles of dance, including contemporary, Afro-Latin dance (salsa/mambo, casino, and
bachata), and West African dance. She has trained with and performed works by Michael Leon Thomas,
Megan Minturn, Djoniba Mouflet, and Eric Jones-Santana. Currently, Shannon performs locally and
throughout the country on a professional salsa team.
Shannon is also a passionate dance educator committed to cultivating inclusive and accessible dance
environments. She has taught individuals of all ages at community events, dance festivals, summer
intensives, and within school wellness programs. She recently completed a summer intensive with AXIS
Dance Company and a teacher training program with Dark Room Ballet. She is currently completing a
teaching artist training program with the Mark Morris Dance Group.
