Event description

Join us at SAM for an evening celebration welcoming a new season of exhibitions. From the opening of Koorie Heritage Trust’s touring show JXSH MVIR: Forever I Live to looking back on another incredible exhibition of talented homegrown artists in SAM Open 2025, as well as new displays from Prue Venables, Philip Hickingbotham, and Yuria Okamura, celebrate the arts with us on Friday 31 October.

Enjoy an evening of art, connection, and conversation as you experience the museum after-hours, with refreshments available from the Elsewhere at SAM team.

5.30PM: Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country (to take place on lake side of SAM building)

6.00PM: Official Opening Proceedings

6.30PM: Bar opens

7.30PM: SAM Open – People’s Choice Award announcement
