SAM Talks: Reflections with Julia Gorman

Join us at SAM for an in-conversation event with artist Julia Gorman and SAM Head of Engagement Gabriella Calandro. Over an hour, the pair will explore Gorman’s vibrant practice, which includes abstract painting, sculpture, and wall drawings, and the inspirations behind her recent site-responsive installation on SAM’s Level 1 window and landing, Reflection on reflection.

About the artist:

Julia Gorman has been making vibrant abstract paintings, wall drawings, and sculptures since the late 90s.

Gorman has exhibited internationally and throughout Australia, showing at major institutions including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, as well as the National Gallery of Victoria, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, and Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne. Her works are held in public and private collections around Australia.
