Join artist Penny Byrne and SAM Acting Artistic Director Danny Lacy for a conversation exploring Byrne's fascinating ceramic practice and the story behind the creation of her 2015 entry to SAM's Sidney Myer Australian Ceramic Award, Sands of Gallipoli (Gallipoli Porn?), now on display in new SAM exhibition Big Ceramic Energy.

About the artist:
Penny Byrne is a Melbourne-based artist whose work is deeply engaged in the world of contemporary political and social affairs. Byrne utilises a variety of mediums to produce sculptural works that express discontent in response to atrocities around the world. Byrne's practice also includes objects conservation, specialising in ceramics and built heritage conservation with over twenty years experience working in the cultural heritage sector in Australia and the United Kingdom. Byrne's artworks can be found in public and private collections across Australia and internationally.
