8 week Samba Bateria Course 

with Brazilian Master Drummer Carlos Ferreira

Wednesday Nights 7pm, 

Commencing September 21st, and running every Wednesday evening until November 9th. Please note, the $250 enrollment fee covers the full 8 weeks.

Join us for a hands on experience in learning MARCAÇÃO (1st, 2nd, 3rd), REPIQUE, CAIXA, TAMBORIM, CHOCALHO, AGOGO, RECO-RECO

A “Bateria” is the percussion section of a Samba School. In Carlos’ hometown,
Rio de Janeiro, there are often up to 300 percussionists playing in one Bateria!
Course participants will learn to play a range of Brazilian Percussion rhythms, build their
knowledge of musical forms and master drumming techniques in a fun Bateria
environment led by Mestre Carlos.

Classes are suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Genuine Brazilian instruments provided or BYO : (SURDO + strap+ beater), (REPIQUE + strap + drumstick), (CAIXA + strap + drumsticks), (TAMBORIM + beater), CHOCALHO, AGOGO or RECO-RECO)]
