San Joaquin Kit Fox Workshop


Event description

The California Central Coast Chapter of The Wildlife Society (CCCC TWS) and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are hosting a workshop featuring the San Joaquin kit fox biology, species identification, survey protocols and field methods will be emphasized. Field methods include spotlighting, camera trapping, scat, den and sign identification. Food and board are included in cost of workshop. The location is remote with limited cell reception. 

This workshop will be held at a remote field site October 1-4. Bunk housing, tent (bring your own), or car camping are available. Bunk housing is limited and includes shared rooms only. Four-wheel drive is not required. This workshop will be both mentally and physically challenging as we have all-day field sessions with daytime and nighttime surveys. Temperatures can vary from 100 F during the day to 40 F or lower at night. The field site has limited cell reception.

Registration opens Wednesday August 21, 2024 at 8am and is open to CCCC TWS Members only. Membership will be confirmed. Join the Ca Central Coast Chapter by August 19, 2024 https://wildlife.org/cali-centralcoast/membership/.
Only CCCC TWS members will receive the invitation to this workshop.

Humanitix fees (3.9%) is included in the registration price. Refunds for this workshop will only be granted on a case by case basis. Humanitix fees will not be refunded.

Note, only two participants from a given organization/company are allowed to attend at a time.
