Sandringham Bayside Childbirth & Parenting education: Nov 22nd, 2026. 08.30am - 4.00pm

Bayside Health offers a comprehensive one-day childbirth education session for first time parents birthing at Sandringham hospital.

The program is conducted face to face at the hospital, over one day. This session will be facilitated by a midwife educator, offering the opportunity for asking questions and discussions.

The program aims to cover topics such as:

• What is labour

• When to call the hospital

• Things the birthing woman and their support person can assist them with in labour - at home and in the hospital

• Informed Consent and refusal

• Options for pain relief at home and in hospital

• Medical intervention and care

• Newborns' communication and adaptation after birth

• Initiating breastfeeding

• Becoming a new parent

• Safety at home

We recommend you look as soon as possible and select and pay for a program.

We recommend that the chosen program commences when you are around 28-32 weeks pregnant. Please complete the booking using the birthing woman's name.

You and your partner are encouraged to attend, or you may bring one support person. 

If you are part of a "Continuity of Care" program, please contact the Childbirth Education department before bringing your midwife.

The session runs from 8.30am -4pm and will be held at Sandringham Hospital.           

Tea & coffee is provided. You will need to bring your own lunch. A microwave is available for use.                       

As this is an all-day program, you may wish to bring a pillow or cushion for your own comfort

You must include your Hospital number and Medicare details to complete the booking.

COST: One ticket is for two people.

Cancellations:

If you make a booking but can no longer attend, please contact the Bayside Childbirth Education Office as soon as possible, to allow another patient to take up the booking.
