Santa Monica Pier Merry Go-Round, Public Murals, Tongva Park & City Hall Permanent Art Collection

As a follow up to our 12/5/24 screening of the b&w, 1961 classic, “Night Tide, starring a very young Dennis Hopper and set largely, in our much beloved Merry Go-Round building, historian James Harris will share some of the deep knowledge he has included in his book, the "Santa Monica Pier: America's Last Great Pleasure Pier" and has played a significant role in local lore, films and tourism. We will walk to City Hall East to view a selection of the City's permanent art collection including works by Umar Rashid and Stanton Macdonald-Wright and on the way, view contemporary murals and Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle's "Weather Field 01 at Tongva Park.
