Originally born from the intense competition between two superpowers, artificial satellites have transcended their military origins. Today, they serve an essential role in civil applications, impacting nearly every aspect of our daily lives. From weather forecasting to navigation, from global communication to Earth observation, satellites have become indispensable to modern society.

Moreover, satellite communication technology has advanced to the point where massive ground stations with giant dishes are no longer necessary for connectivity. We now enjoy satellite-enabled internet while cruising at 35,000 feet, and even the smartphone in our pocket can communicate with satellites when needed. The future of connectivity is more boundless than ever before.

Join us for an enlightening seminar where our speaker Dr. Wei-Jung Guan, a veteran in the satellite communication industry, will reveal why this field is more fascinating than ever and why its importance continues to grow in today's interconnected world.

Speaker Introduction - Dr. Wei-Jung Guan

Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Applied Physics from Tsinghua University.

He later earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University.

Currently, he is a Senior RF Antenna Engineer at Viasat, specializing in satellite communication technologies.
