Event description

Weather permitting, join us for our April Stewardship Opportunity at 10:00 a.m. at our Adopt-a-Highway locations for both Idaho and Oregon, at the State Line parking pull-out on Hwy 95. Please note that all participants for this cleanup need to be over 18 due to proximity to the highway. We’ll go over some safety tips and choose areas to pick up trash beside the road. Please wear warm layers and remember, this event could be cancelled in the event of high winds, poor visibility, or snow on the ground, so be sure you sign up on Humanitix so we can keep in touch with you in case of any changes.

Stewardship projects are offered weather-permitting. Dress in warm layers and come equipped with your own snacks, water, sunscreen, etc. Sturdy shoes and use of thick gloves is highly recommended.

Why do we do this? FOTO is a non-profit organization that play a critical role in providing stewardship to the Owyhee public lands for several important reasons:

  1. Preservation of Biodiversity: The Owyhee region is rich in diverse ecosystems, with rare and unique species that rely on this habitat for survival. FOTO helps protect these species from threats such as habitat destruction, invasive species, and climate change by implementing conservation strategies like habitat restoration and monitoring.

Public Awareness and Advocacy: FOTO is at the forefront of raising awareness about the importance of preserving Owyhee public lands. Through educational programs, outreach campaigns, and advocacy, we help mobilize the public, government entities, and businesses to support sustainable land management practices.
