    Dates: 6 – 11 August 2024

    Venue: Hobartica, Mawson Place

    Dear Sauna + Plungers

Lucky you for scoring a ticket to our almost sold out Sauna and Plunge experience.
We can't wait to welcome you to Hobartica for your Sauna + Plunge session!

Please share this email with any guests you have booked tickets for.
    Here's everything you'll need to know. :

    ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS:

    - Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time of your session so you have time to change before entering the saunas. If you arrive late for your session, we cannot extend your allocated time. Please make sure to check the time of your booking: @ViewTickets.

    - Location: Mawson Place, Hobart. You will find the Sauna + Plunge area in the concourse between Frank Restaurant and the Waterside Pavillion.

    - Parking is available along nearby streets, the waterfront, or at Dunn Place Car Park.

    - You will have 55 minutes in the sauna and plunge area, after which you'll have up to an hour in a reserved area of the McHenry Distillery Antarctic Lounge and Observatory.

    WHAT TO BRING:

    - You will need two towels, one for drying off, and a small towel for sitting on when in the sauna (called a "pefletti" in Finnish). Towels will be available for hire ($5 for 2 towels), or you can bring your own. We'll also have some beautiful hooded terry toweling robes available for sale.

    - Swimwear is required in the saunas. You might consider wearing bathers under your clothes to keep things speedy (but in that case, don’t forget your undies!). You might also like to bring a pair of thongs or sandals. We will provide changing tents, as well as bags for your belongings, which will be kept safe while you’re in the saunas.

    - You should also bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. You'll need it! Please note alcohol is not allowed in the saunas. Please refrain from drinking before your sauna session. After the sauna, it’s traditional to have a beer or cold drink, and there will be plenty to choose from at the bar.

    - Please do not wear perfume or any scented products. And please note, makeup and saunas do not mix.

    WHAT TO EXPECT:

    - We will have four saltwater plunge pools in McHenry Whisky barrels, ranging from positively polar to balmy predicted-2050 Derwent temperatures. If you choose to get into a cold plunge pool, please note cold water immersion is not recommended for people with heart conditions. If you have any concerns, check with your doctor beforehand. There will be paramedics on site, but we really don't want to have to bother them.

    - The Polar Plunge is a rite of passage in Antarctica, and although getting into 0° to 2° water may sound terrifying or at least insane, it's an invigorating and celebratory tradition. Check out this great video for some inspiration. However, plunging is entirely optional!

    - Every sauna session will include a genuine Finnish sauna guide (very recently imported from Finland for this event). They'll give you a short, educational briefing, before you enter one of the three saunas, covering etiquette, safety, and culture. Lesson one: It's pronounced SOW-na, not SAWna. Got that?!

    - Unless you booked a full tent or package of seven tickets, you'll be making some new friends. One of the best parts of the experience!

    - The sauna tents are robust, and a little inclement weather will just add to the atmosphere. If the weather is truly dire and there’s a safety concern, we will contact you to cancel or postpone your session, but that is very unlikely. If you don’t hear from us, you’ll know we’re going ahead.

Any questions, just email us at hello@beakerstreet.com.au.

    Happy sauna-ing!
    Team Beaker
