The Denniston Plateau is one of Aotearoa's most unique landscapes and is rated by the Department of Conservation as a key ecologically valuable site. It is a unique ‘lost world’ ecosystem home to a remarkable array of life. A fast-track application to mine 20-million tonnes of coal in the area is expected to be filed this year.
