SAW: Sawtooth Artist Workshops - Handmade Paint Making with Snéhi Jarvis
Event description
Join us on Saturday the 4th of October AND Saturday the 11th of October for another SAW: Sawtooth Artist Workshop - Handmade Paint Making with Snéhi Jarvis.
“Making paint from scratch is an old technique that most artists have not had the opportunity to undertake, with ready-made materials available from art shops nowadays. However, the pleasure of making one’s own paint is a wonderful experience. I find I learn a lot about the pigments and their individuality… which in turn makes the application of the paint with its uniqueness (no standardisations here!) an engaging and experimental experience.
Workshop 1 exposes you to making paint from European ochre and earth pigments and a synthetic blue to complete the palette; making water colour paint and tempera paint blocks, as well as pastel sticks.
Workshop 2 is about mark-making experimentation using the paint blocks - watercolour paints as well as an opportunity to make egg tempera paint if you would like, and pastels. You can experience the colour manifestations depending on which medium you use.”
Please note: RSVP is for BOTH workshops, please ensure you are available to attend both dates. If you are only available to attend one, please get in contact at sawtoothari@gmail.com.
