    Event description

The evidence-practice gap can only be closed if evidence-based interventions and models of care are implementation at scale across health systems. Scaling up complex health interventions to large populations is a challenging task and Professor Andrew Milat will describe current methods, frameworks and tools used to scale up health interventions. Using real world examples of scaled up interventions in health care he will examine key implications for implementation science, policy and practice.

Professor Andrew Milat is ranked in the top 0.1% of researchers globally in program evaluation and has published >150 academic journal papers.  Professor Milat has held roles including Acting Executive Director and Director, Evidence and Evaluation in the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence, NSW Ministry of Health. He has also held positions including the Head of the Knowledge Transfer Division at the Sax Institute, Research Manager with the Australian Government Department of Health and Local Health District Director of Health Promotion. With over 25 years experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative health policies and programs at national, state and local levels he has a unique appreciation of the interface between health research, policy and practice.

The Implementation Science Academy is presenting webinars each month throughout 2024. The Implementation Science webinar series aims to support researchers, clinicians and consumers to develop an understanding of how to weave implementation science into your research. Each webinar will focus on a topic relevant to implementation science and include a practical case study from an academic, consumer or clinician researcher.
