SCAPE Season 2026 public art walk, 30 January 2027

Its first chapter, pt. 1. emanations, brings temporary artworks into Ōtautahi Christchurch over summer 2026–27, inviting us to see the city differently.

Drawing on Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, the project considers the city as a place of desires and fears, memories and possibilities. It’s a place to wander and wonder, where something unexpected might be waiting just around the corner.

Six new temporary public artworks will appear progressively across the city from October 2026, with new works emerging as 2026 draws to a close and 2027 begins. Transforming familiar places and inviting new encounters, the works will offer fleeting moments of discovery throughout the summer.
