Join Richard Hoehler’s Scene Study 1 class for an end-of-term sharing featuring students’ work on scripted scenes. Using Uta Hagen’s six steps as a guide, students explore their characters’ circumstances, develop authentic inner connections, and choose truthful, effective, and lively actions.

About Richard Hoehler

For thirty years, Richard Hoehler has taught and created theatre with at-risk teenagers, college students, professional actors, incarcerated people, and the formerly incarcerated. He leads theatre workshops at Otisville State Prison and founded Acting Out, a professional acting company for formerly incarcerated performers in residence at HB Studio. He is also an adjunct professor of theatre at John Jay College and the City College of New York.

Hoehler’s original theatre works have been presented Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally. He is the recipient of an OOBR Award for Best Solo Performance, and his work has been published by Smith and Kraus and included in the Billy Rose Theatre Division collection at Lincoln Center. His acting credits include NYPD Blue, Law & Order, Third Watch, True West, K2, and Hair.
