Scenic Rim Rural Women's Celebration
Event description
The second annual Scenic Rim Rural Women's Celebration will be held on Sunday 13 October 2024 at the Kerry Memorial Hall.
Gather your friends and celebrate the International Day of Rural Women in style. Join us for an afternoon of food, drinks, raffles, prizes and stunning scenery. Enjoy music by country artist and Keith Urban Scholarship recipient Briana Dinsdale (her latest video is made right here in the Scenic Rim!).
The aim of the UN International Day of Rural Women is to recognise the critical role and contribution of rural women, and this event is no different. Held at Kerry Memorial Hall, this event aims to bring together and celebrate women of the Scenic Rim who often work behind the scenes.
All proceeds from the event are donated to the Zonta Club of Beaudesert, whose members work tirelessly in our local community to build a better world for women and girls – a world where every woman is able to reach her full potential and where no woman lives in fear of violence.Â
Last year we raised over $5,300 which Zonta is now using to create 'soft rooms' in our local police stations. 'Soft rooms' are used to support and take statements from victims of domestic and family violence and sexual assault and are specially designed to create a more comfortable, relaxed environment. Zonta also supplies these women and children with dignity bags that provide them with essentials in their time of need.
This event will serve as a dignity bag collection point, so please feel free to bring along any of the following items:
- Full-size personal care products like shampoo, conditioner, body wash & moisturiser
- Feminine hygiene products
- Sealed toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Nappies & wipes
- Luxury items like face masks, lipsticks, gloss etc - anything that can help make someone feel special
Please note that these items must be new, sealed and in their original packaging. We thank you for your generosity!
