School Can't Australia: Understanding the signs of sexual abuse and grooming in students
Event description
Dr India Bryce from University of Southern Queensland will join us to talk about sexual abuse and grooming. Dr
Bryce will help parents and carers understand the signs of sexual abuse or grooming and what you should do if you
suspect your child has experienced either. Dr Bryce will also talk about the risk of sexual abuse in children with disabilities and the way
that sexual abuse can impact school engagement. There is often a delay of many years between when a person
experiences sexual abuse and when they disclose this to others, it is important, therefore, that parents and carers are
aware of the signs.
This may be a difficult topic for you. Please seek support if you find attending this webinar leads you to feel
distressed.
